    IT Systems Data Architect

    Due to the investment as part of the East Midlands Railway new franchise we have an exciting opportunity to join our growing IT team as an IT Systems Data Architect.  Experience in the rail sector would be ideal, particularly experience in the application and operation of rolling stock fleet.  The Systems Data Architect will be working in a fast paced environment, where you will draw together individual project plans into an overall Data, Rolling Stock and Operational IT Strategy Plan aligned to the latest Cyber / Security protocols.  

    Reporting directly to the Head of IT you will deliver the IT Business architect plans from design through to implementation for our fleet of trains. 

    The key responsibilities include:

    • Manage multi-disciplinary detailed IT system projects architecture, design and implementation including cyber security implications for our Electric (EMU) and Diesel (DMU) train systems communications and data transfer on/off train to control centres from inception through to completion.
    • To ensure that the introduction of the IT systems solution is delivered within the agreed timescales to support the operation of the EMR fleet.
    • Acting as a conduit between the Business as usual teams, Franchise Delivery, designers and suppliers on the delivery of integrated IT systems Data solutions of new rolling stock and existing fleet modifications by the end of 2021.
    • To ensure that the all the depot works programmes meet all EMR safety and governance requirements.
    • To develop effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders working in a positive and collaborative manner providing relevant and timely updates.

    We are looking for a self-starter with the ability to work under their own initiative and as part of a wider Transition Team.  Your ability to engage and work with stakeholders and suppliers at various levels is essential. 

    Skills /Qualifications Required

    • Relevant degree in engineering & design or IT Computer Science, Networks Delivery or Application architecture.
    • Project focused knowledge within the transport industry.
    • Preference for a member of the Association for Project Management and/or PRINCE 2 qualification. 
    • Knowledge of at least one discipline (Electrification, Diesel and Gauge clearance, Arch, C&S, M&E) 
    • An ability to co-ordinate multi-disciplinary teams of designers and site/track side/depots investigation specialists and suppliers.
