    We have an exciting opportunity available to join our Train Planning and Access team as a Network Development Manager at our Head office in Derby. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Strategy Manager the Network Development Manager is focused on contributing to the development of future timetable development and train service outcomes that meet EMR’s long term business objectives, including optimising the specification and realising the benefits of infrastructure investment schemes.

    The role is responsible for:

    · To identify and pursue opportunities to create improvements to timetable and infrastructure that help the company achieve its long term objectives

    · To work closely with the Head of Alliancing and Network Rail’s Route Sponsorship, Strategic Planning and Future Services Integration teams to act as the “shop window” for third party funders who may wish to invest in the railway

    · To work closely with the Stakeholder Manager to create and maintain a register of future stakeholder aspirations, organising and attending route development meetings with groups of stakeholders and achieving consensus on strategic priorities for each route over which EMR operates

    · To represent EMR and its strategic business interests at various industry forums including Network Rail Route Investment Review Groups, Industry Planning Groups, Strategic Questions working groups

    · To effectively influence key stakeholders, particularly Network Rail, ORR and EMR’s partners, ensuring that EMR’s needs and interests are protected as early as possible as possible in key decision making processes, so that optimal outcomes are achieved

    · To effectively communicate and engage the rest of the EMR business regarding any Network Change consultations from Network Rail, including collating data on direct costs incurred to enable EMR to make substantiated claims for recovery of relevant costs (following criteria set out in Part G of the Network Code), co-ordinating any response to Network Rail, and ensuring that outcomes and actions are cascaded (and, where relevant, compensation is paid) within EMR

    · To maintain and communicate a register of planned network renewals and enhancements

    · To be available to provide support to the Timetable Strategy Manager and Train Planning team as appropriate where workload dictates this is necessary

    · To facilitate compilation, submission and consultation on of any Vehicle Change proposals

    · To represent EMR at external industry meetings pertaining strategic planning (such as Strategic Question working groups and Route Investment Review Groups)

    We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator and team player, with strong oral persuasive and letter-writing skills. You will be computer literate in Microsoft office and ideally have knowledge of Train Planning systems. You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. You will have the ability to comprehend and take cognisance of EMR’s wider business strategies; Network Rail’s strategic planning priorities and the Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of strategic business case preparation/WebTAG.
