Four times accredited as a Top Employer, we have an outstanding opportunity to join East Midlands Railway as a Driver Manager at Nottingham, leading the Driver resource to achieve timetable delivery, safely and within budget guidelines. The Driver Manager will establish and maintain East Midlands Railways performance through the direction of the Drivers, to ensure the highest possible safety and operating standards are achieved at all times.

    The Driver Manager will:

    • Establish a leadership style to promote East Midlands Railways vision and values in order to build a culture that integrates Driver activities and focuses on delivery

    • Ensure that Company/Local agreements are observed and implemented correctly and negotiate amendments in working practices to improve efficiency and productivity

    •Carry out investigations and interviews into operational incidents involving Drivers and develop and implement action plans as appropriate

    • Lead and direct Traction and Operations Training Programmes and Manuals to ensure course contents and instructions meet performance standards

    • Ensure that the training resources available are utilised to maximise effect through the establishment of future requirements for Drivers.

    • Take an active role in Driver recruitment, appointment, training assessments, examination and medical fitness

    • Ensure that all records detailing Driver Performance Monitoring system and incident points/corrective actions are properly documented

    You will be an excellent leader with wide technical knowledge and experience in rail operations and train crew procedures, systems, rules and regulations. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think clearly and make important judgments in a disciplined and safety focused environment. Driver competency will be required for this role, applicants must hold a valid EUTDL licence and a minimum of 5 years mainline driving experience. 

    This post is also available to internal candidates for a 12 month secondment. Please note this role carries an on-call responsibility.
