    Due to the investment as part of the new East Midlands Railway franchise we have an exciting opportunity to join our growing IT team as an Infrastructure Delivery Manager.

    The IT Infrastructure Delivery Manager will manage a team of support Engineers and Technicians. This position is critical to ensuring we provide the levels of IT service to all EMR staff so they can perform their daily jobs using EMT IT equipment, systems and applications.

    IT infrastructure is the foundation for many of our business critical systems and is required to guarantee EMR services can be delivered to our customers. It is imperative the Infrastructure Manager maintains the infrastructure in excellent condition, ensures up time availability as required and delivers infrastructure improvements in line with the agreed business strategy.

    As the Infrastructure Delivery Manager you will:-

    Build & maintain EMR’s infrastructure servers, network devices/services, security devices, management software.  It is also the role of the infrastructure manager to ensure the team is approachable and responsive in resolving any IT infrastructure related incidents/faults quickly and efficiently, including providing 3rd line support for the service delivery team.

    • Work with the head of IT to create the IT infrastructure strategy, with responsibility for planning and managing the infrastructure resources to deliver the strategy and maintain the environment.
    • Create an infrastructure roadmap in line with the strategy to continually improve the infrastructure environment, identifying required upgrades, replacements, renewals within the environment and drive this roadmap to ensure the environment is kept up to date.
    • It is the role of the infrastructure manager to manage the team effectively, setting team direction/strategy, creating team plans, managing team performance.
    • Ensure the team efficiently manages all IT infrastructure assets throughout their lifecycle, ensuring contracts are in place, devices are supported, vendors are managed.
    • Ensure all EMR systems have a clear, documented backup and recovery plan, which is followed and regularly tested.
    • Manage infrastructure engineers making sure infrastructure technical and procedural support documentation are created where identified or requested by management
    • Support project managers to create infrastructure implementation planning, perform system testing and implement new systems to meet business requirements.
    • Utilise system management tools to analyse, monitor and document systems performance, availability and capacity, producing periodic management reports showing findings and recommending improvements / enhancements.
    • Manage and liaise with suppliers to arrange for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in house, ensuring escalation up the IT management chain.
    • New systems are delivered, documented in line with business planning and requirements, with technical changes applied following IT change management procedures.

    To be successful in the role of Infrastructure Delivery Manager you should be able to demonstrate you have the following skills and knowledge:-

    • Qualified/Experience in either: AGILE,  ITILV3
    • Aware of ISO standards 27001, 27701, audit & compliance standards, GDPR and security protocols
    • Proven experience in people management and successfully leading a team
    • Proven delivery of complex technical change or digital transformation projects covering office relocations, WAN, LAN, Smart Mobile Devices, AD, Networks, Big Data, BI (analytics) software development, DCI
    • Expertise in Network Infrastructure Delivery particularly in complex environments on premises, cloud and 3rd party suppliers
    • Experience of working in an environment with Windows server/desktop, VMWare, Citrix, smartphones / tablets, MDM’s with good understanding of core concepts for each.
    • An understanding of CCNA/CCNP routing and switching though experience or qualification.
    • Strategically minded IT professional who can look at innovative ideas and services across a holistic architecture, devising hosting models, SAAS, cloud based, Digital 1st approach.
    • Proven experience of delivering IT change in a complex business environment.
    • A self-starter, with the ability to operate within a lean HQ environment, with the ability to switch between strategic and operational activities
    • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills as well as being able to communicate at all levels within a large complex environment.
    • General understanding of the basics Project Finance including ability to forecast effectively, manage change requests and ensure that suppliers are paid promptly.
