    Sustainability in EMR - Getting there greener - Our commitment to sustainable development

    Taking the train is 4 times less carbon intensive than traveling by car – while also improving air quality and city centre congestion. We know sustainability is more than just the environment,  EMR’s vison is to put customers at the heart of our sustainable railway for the east midlands. Our sustainably agenda and aims are described best as simply “Getting There Greener”, an approach to green travel, growth, modal shift and sustainability which is focused on reducing emissions, creating social value and protecting and restoring the natural environment.  You can find our more about our getting there greener initatives in the video below

    What we do

    East Midlands Railway provides over 450 train services per day, including fast Intercity services between South Yorkshire, the East Midlands, and the iconic London St Pancras International as well as regional services linking towns and cities across England


     

    • EMR Intercity operates to and from London St Pancras International, providing reliable and frequent services to Leicester, Nottingham, Lincoln, Derby and Sheffield and other towns and communities across the East Midlands
    • EMR Connect is an all-electric service providing frequent commuter style services between London, Luton, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby
    • EMR Regional provides local train services to towns and communities across England, including; Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe, Stoke-on-Trent, Peterborough, Ely, Grantham and Norwich
